About Us
NuWave Vascular Ultrasound
Meet our Director…

Mary Philippou
Director - Vascular Sonographer
I have been working alongside vascular surgeons for more than 15 years in the public and private sectors, and in operating theatres. My practical vascular ultrasound experience and the opportunity to observe surgeries has shown me the importance of imaging results and providing the right amount of detail.
I developed an interest in wounds when I started providing imaging to patients of the Royal Melbourne Hospital Wound Clinic and other private wound clinics. I observed wonderful results in venous wound healing after minimally invasive intervention by vascular surgeons.
My qualifications and training lead me to establish NuWave Vascular Ultrasound:
- to provide precise imaging as an information source between GPs, patients and specialists.
- after noticing a higher accuracy rate in ultrasounds performed by specialised vascular sonographers.
- due to a personal experience with vascular disease, I understand the importance of prompt care and I have always felt drawn to support others.
Qualifications
- Accredited Medical Sonographer (AMS) (Vascular)
- Bachelor of Behavioural Neuroscience, Monash University (Neuro-imaging major)
- Diploma of Medical Ultrasound, Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (Vascular Ultrasound)
Training
- 4-year training program through Ian Ferguson Vascular Laboratory, Vascular Surgery Unit, The Alfred Hospital.
